Biography

Ms Beate Gminder, Deputy Director-General of DG HOME is heading the Task Force Migration Management and the Directorates “HOME Affairs Funds” and “Innovation and Audit”. She is leading the efforts of the European Commission and its agencies to support Member States operationally in migration challenges, particularly in Greece and Cyprus but also in view of the Ukrainians fleeing the war. The Deputy Director-General is overseeing the implementation of the Home Affairs Funds (Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, Internal Security Fund, Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy) in shared and direct management in all Member States and the Schengen Associated Countries, and it is also in charge the relationship with the Court of Auditors and the ex-post audits of the Funds.

Ms Gminder is a career official of the European Commission, with various postings in communication jobs as well as spokesperson for food safety and consumer protection, adviser to Commissioners and as Head of Human Resources in interior and justice affairs. Directly before taking on the post as Director in 2018 and Deputy Director-General in 2020 in DG HOME, she worked as Secretary General of the European Ombudsman.
